I.P.H STRUCTURED FLOORING

With understandable concerns regarding shrinking, moving, twisting and warping, it was about time a board, which on the face of it appears to be a solid board, was developed that would make this a thing of the past, and we believe we have it. Our Structured flooring offers the perfect solution,  it holds the wide face width and structural thickness you would expect from IPH Flooring, but has so much more going on underneath.

Beneath the 6mm of solid oak you can find a further 15mm of multi and cross layed birch ply.  These layers are water resistant meaning that any possible damp in the sub floor cannot patrude to the oak sat on top. this means there are no ingredients which are needed in order for the Oak to expand.  This may be good for expansion, but what if the conditions are dry and the board wants to shrink? Well, as it does for moisture, the birch ply offers the same protection to the top layer of Oak, it absorbs all the heat and is not affected, thus protecting and shielding the Oak.  In fact, we have so much confidence in this board, we recommend it as the primary flooring option where underfloor heating is installed.

We can now offer our Structured line in the following ways. Unfinished, giving the customer the option to apply whichever finish they seem fit, or pre-finished with a UV Cured Oil. Up until recently, we were only able to offer the one spec, (180mm x 20mm), but now theres a second choice, 150mm x 18mm, this board is slightly cheaper and very close to our solid Classic Oak in terms of appearance. It offers a shorter board, unlike its sister product which boasts fantastic full length boards.

In terms of fitting this board, it can be treated as a standard engineered product, it can be floated, meaning the tongue and grooves are glued together and require no nailing or pernament fixing.  If the prefered method is in fact to be nailed down, this can be achieved by secretly or face fixing the boards to the subfloor whether its joists, battens, or hardboard. The board offers substantial strength to span standard joisting. So, as you can see, a very versatile board in every sense of the word!

SHORT SUMMARY OF STRUCTURED FLOORING :

  • Suitable for use over underfloor heating
  • Minimal shrinkage or warping
  • Very stable construction
  • Extended usage due to the 6mm hardwood wear layer
  • All boards are wide and long
  • Can be nailed, glued or laid as a ‘floating floor’
  • Structural thickness (20.5mm) so can be laid across joists
  • Boards have a beveled edge, reducing the need for sanding once the boards have been laid
  • Storage and transport costs are reduced due to one size of boards
  • Installation costs are reduced due to the size of the boards
